Summary
Beginning July 26, 2026, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network will assign fees to plane block procedure codes developed in 2025. When plane blocks are billed with hip or knee arthroplasty in outpatient surgical settings, the 125% multiple surgery reimbursement will not apply.
Action Required
By July 26, 2026: Billing team must update billing software to remove the 125% multiple surgery reimbursement when plane block procedure codes are billed in conjunction with hip or knee arthroplasty performed in outpatient surgical settings. Update fee schedules to include assigned fees for plane block procedure codes developed in 2025. Verify billing edits follow the nerve block edit established January 1, 2019.
