Summary

Effective September 1, 2021, Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs) must bill under their own name and NPI number for all Medicaid and Medicare-Medicaid services. APNs can no longer bill under their collaborating physician's name and NPI, and must be enrolled as rendering providers in IMPACT.

By September 1, 2021: All APNs must enroll as Rendering/Servicing providers in IMPACT if not already enrolled. Billing team must update all claims to use APN's name and NPI as the rendering or ordering/referring/prescribing provider. Stop billing APN services under collaborating physician's name and NPI. Claims billed incorrectly will not be processed.
