Summary
The Illinois Department of Medical Programs has corrected a system error that incorrectly rejected telehealth distant site claims with error code T89 for services from October 1, 2021 onward. Providers must resubmit these previously rejected claims as original claims within 180 days of February 1, 2022.
Action Required
By August 1, 2022: Billing team must identify all telehealth distant site claims rejected with error code T89 for dates of service October 1, 2021 and after. Resubmit these claims as original claims using Bill Type '1' for 837P transactions or Claim Frequency Code '1' for MEDI DDE transactions.
