Illinois Medicaid - HFS·IL · Geriatrics·Provider Notice
Effective date
Jun 24, 2022
We identified it
Jun 20, 2026
Summary
Illinois Medicaid policy clarifies that Group Care Credit (GCC) increases for long-term care facilities will be processed prospectively from the current effective month regardless of when the income change was reported, while GCC decreases will be processed retroactively. The 2022 COLA file will not run automatically, requiring manual submission of applicable income changes.
Action Required
Immediately: Long-term care facilities must review and manually submit any outstanding income change transactions that affect Group Care Credits if not previously submitted. Do not submit duplicate transactions. Billing teams should update patient accounts to reflect that GCC increases will be effective prospectively from processing date, while GCC decreases will be retroactive to the date of income change. Contact Bureau of Long Term Care at 844-528-8444 with questions.
