Summary
Illinois Medicaid now covers two postpartum care visits - one within the first 3 weeks and another within 4-12 weeks after pregnancy ends, regardless of outcome. Providers can bill procedure code 0503F twice during the postpartum period for both fee-for-service and managed care plans.
Action Required
Immediately: Update billing system to allow two separate billings of procedure code 0503F per patient during postpartum period (once within 3 weeks, once within 4-12 weeks after pregnancy ends).
