Summary
Illinois Medicaid now covers five new interprofessional consultation CPT codes (99446-99451) for psychiatric services effective February 1, 2023. These codes are billable only by licensed physicians and advanced practice nurses with CAP or GAP specialty enrollment in IMPACT, and cannot be billed with Collaborative Care Model codes.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must add CPT codes 99446, 99447, 99448, 99449, and 99451 to billing system for psychiatric providers with CAP or GAP specialty enrolled in IMPACT. Verify provider specialty using Provider Information Sheet. Set system rules to prevent billing these codes with Collaborative Care Model codes from June 21, 2022 notice. Ensure 14-day face-to-face encounter restriction is documented.
