Summary
Illinois Medicaid now accepts electronic void/rebill transactions for institutional providers to correct errors on previously submitted and paid claims. The process must be used within 12 months of the original paid voucher date and is only for correcting errors, not billing additional services.

Immediately: Billing team should review Chapter 100, Handbook for Providers of Medical Services, Topic 112.4.1 for updated void/rebill process instructions. Update internal procedures to utilize electronic void/rebill functionality through MEDI or 837I files for correcting claim errors within 12 months of original payment date. Train staff that this process is only for correcting errors (incorrect provider numbers, dates of service, procedure codes) and not for billing additional services.
