Summary
Illinois Medicaid now covers acupuncture services for chronic low back pain and breech baby presentation, effective April 1, 2023. Licensed acupuncturists must enroll in the IMPACT system as Individual/Sole Proprietors to bill these services at 60% of Medicare rates.

Immediately: If your practice provides acupuncture services, ensure acupuncturists are enrolled in the Illinois Medicaid IMPACT system as Individual/Sole Proprietors. Update billing system to accept acupuncture claims for chronic low back pain and breech baby presentation diagnoses only.
