Summary
Illinois updated the Community-Based Behavioral Health (CBS) fee schedule effective January 1, 2024, with higher reimbursement rates. Providers must submit replacement claims for previously paid services to receive the updated higher rates, but only if their usual and customary charges justify the higher payment.
Action Required
By December 31, 2024: Billing team must review all Community-Based Behavioral Health claims paid at old rates since January 1, 2024. Submit replacement claims using Claim Frequency '7' through MEDI or 837P files for services where usual and customary charges would result in higher payments under the new fee schedule. Contact community mental health center billing consultant at 877-782-5565 (option sequence 1, 2, 4, then 8) for FFS claims assistance. Must submit within 12 months of original paid voucher date.
