Summary
Due to a Change Healthcare system outage affecting Illinois Medicaid pharmacy billing, medications that normally require prior authorization will temporarily not be subject to post approval processes. HFS will pay all clean pharmacy claims once the system is restored.
Action Required
Immediately: Pharmacy staff should continue checking Medicaid patient eligibility using MEDI (www.myhfs.illinois.gov), AVRS (800-842-1461), REV System, or calling 800-252-8942/877-782-5565 Option 7. Continue dispensing medications in good faith, including those normally requiring prior authorization. Consult with patients regarding medication history to reduce adverse events.
