Summary
Illinois Medicaid has increased reimbursement rates for air ambulance services effective January 1, 2024, including new mileage reimbursement. Providers can void and rebill previously submitted air ambulance claims that were paid at the old rates for services from January 1, 2024 forward.

Immediately: Billing team should identify all air ambulance claims submitted for dates of service beginning January 1, 2024 that were paid at old rates. Void and rebill these claims using the updated Transportation Fee Schedule rates. Reference the MEDI Transportation Billing Guide for void/rebill procedures. For managed care claims, contact individual MCOs as they will process adjustments automatically.
