Summary

Starting January 1, 2026, Illinois will expand the Sexual Assault Emergency Treatment Program to cover transportation from treatment hospitals to survivors' residences and allow transfer hospitals to issue authorization vouchers for follow-up services. Treatment hospitals must submit monthly transportation reports and transfer hospitals need to enroll in the MEDI ERSASS system by December 1, 2025.

By December 1, 2025: Transfer hospitals must enroll in MEDI ERSASS system by contacting MEDI Administrator for Employee Registration Key. By January 1, 2026: Treatment hospitals must begin submitting monthly transportation reports to HFS.SAClaims@illinois.gov using required template from HFS website. Transfer hospitals must issue vouchers to all non-Medicaid survivors and maintain copies in medical records. All non-Medicaid claims should be submitted via secure mailbox at HFS.SAClaims@illinois.gov for faster processing.
