Summary
North Carolina Medicaid now requires organizational providers with taxonomy 251S00000X (Community/Behavioral Health Agency) to obtain national accreditation within 1-3 years of enrolling in specific services, with compliance monitoring beginning April 20, 2026. Existing providers must enroll in at least one service by August 1, 2026, or face termination of their taxonomy and provider record.
Action Required
By August 1, 2026: Providers with active 251S00000X taxonomy must enroll in at least one SERVICE-TYPE through a Manage Change Request (MCR) in NCTracks to avoid termination. By April 20, 2027: Complete post-enrollment national accreditation (COA, JCAHO, CARF, or CQL depending on service) and add it to NCTracks record. Beginning April 20, 2026: Already accredited providers should complete MCR to add accreditation to their NCTracks record. Failure to comply will result in claims suspension and potential termination of provider records.
