Action Required

Action needed
By October 1, 1999: Billing teams serving Maryland nursing facilities must update reimbursement procedures to exclude physical and occupational therapy costs from Other Patient Care cost center billing. Implement new separate billing procedures for PT, OT, and speech therapy services to Maryland Medicaid recipients. Update cost center calculations to reflect new ceiling percentages (120% for Other Patient Care, 114% for Administrative/Routine) and efficiency payment structures. Review bed hold day billing to exclude nursing cost center reimbursement for acute hospitalization and therapeutic leave days.
