Summary
Maryland Medicaid has instituted a new Air Ambulance protocol effective December 1, 2000, requiring all local jurisdictions to route Air Ambulance service requests through the Baltimore City Health Department Medicaid Transportation Program for eligibility screening and medical necessity approval. All approved Air Ambulance transport costs for Maryland Medicaid recipients will be paid by the Baltimore City Health Department.
