Summary
Maryland Medicaid is eliminating preauthorization requirements for disposable incontinence pants (up to 240 per 30 days) and underpads (up to 135 per 30 days) for recipients aged 3 years and older. These items can now be billed directly without prior authorization within the specified quantity limits.
Action Required
Before November 19, 2001: Billing team must update Maryland Medicaid billing procedures to remove preauthorization requirements for disposable incontinence pants (up to 240 per 30 days) and disposable underpads (up to 135 per 30 days) for patients 3 years and older. Update billing software to allow direct billing for these items within quantity limits. Note that preauthorization is still required for quantities exceeding these limits and for all incontinence supplies for patients under 3 years old.
