Summary
Starting January 1, 2003, all Assisted Living facilities providing services under Maryland's Waiver for Older Adults must bill directly to the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) instead of through the Maryland Department on Aging (MDOA). This affects four specific HCPCS codes for assisted living services.
Action Required
By January 1, 2003: Assisted Living facilities must redirect all billing for Waiver for Older Adults services directly to DHMH instead of MDOA. Submit Level 2 and Level 3 claims (G0216, G0217) electronically or via paper form 248 to P.O. Box 1935, Baltimore MD 21203. Submit Environmental Modifications (G0218) and Assistive Equipment (G0219) claims only via paper form 248. Contact System Liaison Unit at 410-767-6940 for electronic billing setup. Update billing systems by October 2003 to support 837 Professional or HCFA 1500 formats per HIPAA regulations.
