Summary
Maryland Medicaid is changing procedure codes for Healthy Start prenatal services. Effective July 1, 2003, providers must replace W9090 with H1000 and W9091 with H1003 when billing for prenatal risk assessment and enhanced maternity services.
Action Required
By July 1, 2003: Billing team must update system to use new procedure codes H1000 (Prenatal Care, At-Risk Assessment) instead of W9090 and H1003 (Prenatal Care, At-Risk Enhanced Service/Education) instead of W9091 for all Maryland Medicaid Healthy Start services rendered on or after July 1, 2003. Continue using old codes W9090 and W9091 for services rendered before July 1, 2003 regardless of when claims are submitted.
