Summary
Maryland Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) can now charge enrollees up to $2 copayments for brand name drugs, must pass provider fee increases through to providers, and must reserve nursing facility beds for hospitalized recipients. The policy also updates sanction procedures and removes Hepatitis C risk sharing requirements.
Action Required
By July 1, 2003: Billing team must update patient collection procedures to collect up to $2 copayments for brand name drugs from Maryland Medicaid MCO enrollees. Update nursing facility billing to ensure bed reservations for acute care hospitalizations within first 30 days (maximum 15 days per visit). Verify all Maryland Medicaid MCO fee increases are properly implemented in billing system rates.
