Providers must use new procedure codes (W0226, W0227, W0228, W0229) for services on or after June 1, 2007, and bill daily instead of monthly.
Action Required
By June 30, 2007: Update billing software to include new procedure codes W0226, W0227, W0228, W0229 with specified daily rates. Switch from monthly to daily billing on CMS 1500 forms with one day per line. Electronic billers must update HIPAA billing software by accessing File Maintenance > C.P.T. 4 Codes and entering new codes. Update participant plans of care in billing system. Old codes W0216 and W0217 will be rejected for services after June 1, 2007.
