Summary
Maryland Medicaid is adding new preventive medicine service codes (99384-99396) for family planning examinations with diagnosis code V25, effective July 1, 2007. If abnormalities are found during the preventive exam, providers must use standard office visit codes (99201-99215) instead.

By July 1, 2007: Billing team must update system to allow preventive codes 99384-99396 with diagnosis V25 for Maryland Medicaid family planning services. Configure system to use office visit codes 99201-99215 with V25 instead when abnormalities are encountered. Update encounter forms for providers to indicate appropriate code selection based on exam findings.
