Summary
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois has established a BlueCard Executive escalation process for high-value, aged claims. Providers who are members of the Provider Multidistrict Litigation Settlement Class can now escalate specific BlueCard claims that meet age and dollar thresholds directly to a senior executive for resolution.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team should identify if the practice is a member of the Provider Multidistrict Litigation Settlement Class. For eligible providers, create a process to track BlueCard claims meeting escalation criteria ($1M+ aged 45+ days, $500K+ aged 60+ days, or $300K+ aged 90+ days). When escalating, email the BlueCard Executive with claim number, member ID, date of service, patient name, and pertinent details. Continue using existing dispute/appeals processes for claims not meeting these thresholds.
