Summary
Effective July 1, 2022, Maryland Medicaid increased payment rates for Rare and Expensive Case Management (REM) services by 4 percent. Billing teams must update their fee schedules to reflect new rates for four REM procedure codes (G9001, G9003, G9004, G9009) and begin billing these rates for all services provided on or after the effective date.
Action Required
By July 1, 2022: Billing team must update all billing system fee schedules and encounter forms to reflect the new FY2023 REM rates (Assessment LOC G9001: $463.69, Level of Care 1 G9003: $342.39, Level of Care 2 G9004: $204.07, Level of Care 3 G9009: $107.70). All staff involved in REM billing and providers delivering REM services must be informed of the rate changes. Begin billing new rates for all REM services provided on or after July 1, 2022.
