Summary
Maryland Medicaid will now reimburse Jurisdictional Emergency Medical Services Operational Programs (JEMSOPs) for Mobile Integrated Health services using HCPCS code A0998 at $150 per visit for patients 18+ in community-based settings. This creates a new billable service for ambulance companies providing preventative and chronic care services outside of emergency responses.
Action Required
By January 1, 2023: Ambulance companies enrolled as provider type T1 must ensure they are approved by MIEMSS to provide MIH services before billing A0998. Update billing systems to bill A0998 at $150 per visit for Mobile Integrated Health services to managed care organizations. Note that only one MIH visit can be billed per event - no separate billing allowed for clinical services during the same visit.
