Summary
Effective January 1, 2024, Maryland Medicaid will only reimburse CenteringPregnancy services at practices that are accredited or pending accreditation by the Centering Healthcare Institute (CHI). Practices that are only licensed (without CHI accreditation) will lose eligibility for enhanced reimbursement. All practices must update their ePREP enrollment profiles with CHI approval letters and the CenteringPregnancy Addendum to maintain payment eligibility.
Action Required
By December 31, 2023: Provider enrollment team must verify CHI accreditation or pending accreditation status for all practices offering CenteringPregnancy services. Obtain CHI approval letter and CenteringPregnancy Addendum from Centering Healthcare Institute. Billing team must submit supplemental ePREP applications for both the practice group and each rendering provider with required documentation (CHI approval letter and addendum). After January 1, 2024, only claims from CHI-accredited or pending-accreditation practices will be reimbursed at the enhanced rate. Update internal records to flag any practices with only licensure status as ineligible for additional reimbursement—claims from these practices will be denied.
