Summary

Effective July 1, 2023, Maryland Medicaid increases the reimbursement rate for doula Attendance at Delivery services from $350 to $800 per delivery (flat rate). This applies to Medicaid-participating doula providers in Maryland rendering services under COMAR 10.09.39. Prenatal and postpartum rates also increased slightly.

By June 30, 2023: Billing team must update the fee schedule in the billing system to reflect the new Attendance at Delivery rate of $800 (CPT/HCPCS code T1033) and updated prenatal/postpartum rates (T1032 at $16.62 and T1032U9 at $19.62). Update all claim submission templates, billing software, and rate tables used for Maryland Medicaid doula claims. Verify that claims submitted on or after July 1, 2023 use the new rates. Claims submitted with the old $350 rate after the effective date may be subject to recoupment or denial.
