Summary
Maryland Medicaid is reducing home health services reimbursement rates by 4% effective July 1, 2023. This reverses a temporary ARPA-funded rate increase that expired June 30, 2023. Billing teams must update fee schedules immediately to reflect new county-based rates for skilled nursing, home health aides, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech pathology services.
Action Required
By July 1, 2023: Billing team must update all billing system fee schedules with the new Maryland Medicaid home health rates effective July 1, 2023. Replace all previous CY 2023 rates with the updated county-based fee schedule provided in this transmittal for procedure codes 0551 (Skilled Nursing), 0571 (Home Health Aide), 0421 (Physical Therapy), 0431 (Occupational Therapy), 0441 (Speech Pathology), and 0273 (DMS/DME). Verify that the billing system is configured to apply rates based on the home health agency's home office location county. Any claims submitted with outdated rates on or after July 1, 2023 will be subject to recoupment or denial. Contact Division of Nursing Services at 410-767-1448 with questions.
