Summary

Maryland Medical Assistance Program increases reimbursement rates by 4% for Model Waiver Case Management services effective July 1, 2023. This rate increase replaces the temporary 4% ARPA-authorized increase that expired on the same date, resulting in no net change to overall payment levels. Billing teams must update fee schedules in their systems to reflect the new rates for procedure codes W1614, W1616, and W1618.

Action Required

Action needed
By July 1, 2023: Billing team must update the fee schedule in the practice management system and billing software to reflect the new Model Waiver Case Management rates: W1614 ($1,181.61/month), W1616 ($1,181.61/month), and W1618 ($590.80/month). Verify that claims submitted on or after July 1, 2023 use the updated rates. Remove or deactivate the temporary FY2023 rates. No retroactive billing adjustments are required since the new permanent rate replaces the temporary rate on the same effective date.
