Summary
Maryland Medical Assistance Program is increasing reimbursement rates for nursing services by 8% effective January 1, 2024, pursuant to state legislation. This affects RN, LPN, CNA, and home health aide services billed under specific HCPCS codes. Assessment visits are excluded from the rate increase. Billing teams must update fee schedules in their systems to use the new rates for all services provided on or after January 1, 2024.
Action Required
By December 31, 2023: Billing team must update all fee schedules in the billing system to reflect the new FY 2024 rates for HCPCS codes T1001, W1002, T1002, T1030, T1003, T1031, W1000, T1021, and T1004. Verify that assessment visits (T1001) retain the old rate ($150.00) and are NOT increased by 8%. Update all rate tables, fee schedules, and billing templates used by providers and billing staff. Communicate the rate changes to all nursing services providers and front-line billing staff. Test billing system changes before January 1, 2024 to ensure correct rates are applied to all claims submitted on or after the effective date. Failure to update rates will result in incorrect claim submission and potential underbilling.
