Summary
Effective February 1, 2024, Maryland Medical Assistance Program increases reimbursement rates for three abortion-related procedures in non-facility settings: D&C (CPT 59840) to $540.66, D&E (CPT 59841) to $636.63, and Medical Abortion (HCPCS S0199) to $536.49. Billing teams must update fee schedules and billing system rates to reflect these new amounts for all claims dated on or after February 1, 2024.

By February 1, 2024: Billing team must update the Maryland Medicaid fee schedule in the billing system with the new non-facility rates for CPT 59840 ($540.66), CPT 59841 ($636.63), and HCPCS S0199 ($536.49). Verify that billing software applies these rates only to non-facility place of service claims for Maryland Medicaid patients. Notify providers and abortion clinic staff of the rate increases.
