Summary

Maryland Medicaid nursing facility reimbursement rates have been adjusted effective July 1, 2024, based on facility-specific case mix index (CMI) using 2022-2023 RUG-IV data and 2022 cost report rebasing. Facilities must obtain updated rate letters from Myers & Stauffer LC, update Medicare coinsurance calculations using the revised worksheet, and reflect the new personal needs allowance of $102.00/month per Medicaid participant in billing.

Action Required

Action needed
By July 1, 2024: Billing team must download FY 2025 rate letter from secure Myers & Stauttaff LC portal (verify provider number accuracy) and provide rates to accounting/bookkeeper for account setup. Immediately update Medicare coinsurance calculations using the revised FY 2025 worksheet (accessible via https://mmcp.health.maryland.gov/longtermcare/Pages/Nursing-Facility-Providers.aspx > Document Library > Coinsurance Worksheets). Update billing system to reflect personal needs allowance at $102.00/month per Medicaid participant effective July 1, 2024. Nursing facility administrators must distribute this transmittal to appropriate staff. If rate letter not received or questions exist, contact Myers & Stauffer LC at (410) 356-9256. Failure to implement rate changes will result in incorrect Medicaid reimbursement and Medicare coinsurance calculations.
