Maryland Licensing Board Interface Process Clarification

REQUIREMENTS: - By end of current billing cycle: Notify all Maryland-licensed providers in the billing team's practice that they NO LONGER need to submit license updates or supplemental applications via ePREP for renewal—only update licenses directly with their Maryland licensing board. - Immediately: Add calendar reminder for each provider's license renewal date at LEAST 2 WEEKS before expiration (not the last week of the month) to prevent automatic temporary suspension. - Before next provider license renewal: Establish protocol to wait 1 week after provider renews license with Board before resubmitting any claims previously denied due to suspension. If account still shows suspended after 1 week, contact mdh.providerenrollment@maryland.gov. - Ongoing: Do NOT submit claims for dates of service when provider has active suspension status. Resubmit all claims denied due to suspension only AFTER provider returns to active status. - Inform practice leaders and providers: Out-of-state licensed providers must continue submitting supplemental applications via ePREP (this change applies ONLY to Maryland-licensed providers). Track which providers are Maryland-licensed vs. out-of-state to apply correct process. - Compliance deadline: By January 1, 2025, monitor for board interface expansion to acupuncturists, occupational therapists, dietitians, and nutritionists (policy states "by start of 2025").
