Summary
Maryland Medicaid has extended a temporary enrollment moratorium for four behavioral health provider types (Psychiatric Rehabilitation Programs, Level 2.5 Partial Hospital Programs, and Level 2.1 Intensive Outpatient Treatment Programs) for an additional six months, effective January 1, 2025 through June 30, 2025. Any new enrollment applications submitted on or after July 1, 2024 for these provider types will be denied; existing providers are unaffected and can continue operations.
Action Required
By December 31, 2024: Billing team and provider credentialing staff must review this policy to ensure no new enrollment applications are submitted for Psychiatric Rehabilitation Programs (PRP), Level 2.5 Partial Hospital Programs (PHP), or Level 2.1 Intensive Outpatient Treatment Programs (IOP) on or after the effective date of January 1, 2025. Any applications submitted after July 1, 2024 will be automatically denied by Maryland MDH. Existing enrolled providers in these categories can continue billing without interruption. If your practice operates current programs in these categories, no action is required. Contact Bha.licensingcompliance@maryland.gov if you have questions about existing provider status or if applications are pending. This moratorium is in effect through June 30, 2025.
