Summary
Maryland Medical Assistance Program requires Adult Medical Day Care providers to complete the Health Care Audit and Utilization Review Procedures (HCAU) form annually for all center participants, effective March 1, 2025. Providers must maintain completed HCAU records and make them available for Department review. An optional Periodic Health Record Audit (PHRA) form is recommended for annual use to ensure program compliance.
Action Required
By March 1, 2025: Medical Day Care providers must implement a process to complete the HCAU form annually for all center participants. Designate the center director or their designee to sign completed HCAU forms. Establish a record retention system to maintain all completed HCAU forms and ensure availability for Department review upon request. Download fillable HCAU and PHRA forms from the Medical Day Care Services webpage (https://health.maryland.gov/mmcp/longtermcare/Pages/Medical-Day-Care-Services.aspx). Consider implementing the optional PHRA form for annual random sampling of participant records to verify program compliance. Failure to complete and maintain HCAU records may result in non-compliance citations under COMAR 10.09.07.03N.
