Summary
EmblemHealth is upgrading their technology and issuing new 11-digit alpha-numeric member ID numbers to patients when they renew their plans. Billing teams must always verify patients have current member ID cards and use the ID number that was in effect on the date of service when submitting claims.
Action Required
Immediately: Front desk staff must ask ALL patients for their current EmblemHealth member ID cards at every visit. Billing team must verify the member ID number was in effect on the date of service before submitting claims. Update patient registration workflows to capture new 11-digit alpha-numeric ID format. Claims submitted with incorrect or outdated member ID numbers will be denied.
