Summary
Pennsylvania is requiring enhanced ABA training for Therapeutic Staff Support (TSS) workers who serve children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. TSS workers implementing ABA treatment plans must complete at least 6 hours of ABA-specific training during initial training, within first 6 months, and annually thereafter.
Action Required
By October 10, 2016: TSS workers currently implementing ABA treatment plans without documented ABA training must complete at least 6 hours of ABA training. Update training documentation systems to track ABA-specific hours. Ensure weekly supervision addresses ABA intervention implementation for applicable workers. Modify training curriculum to incorporate 6 hours of ABA training for new TSS workers before working alone with children.
