Summary

Pennsylvania Medicaid updated their Preferred Drug List (PDL) effective July 25, 2017, adding new drug classes and changing preferred/non-preferred status for hundreds of medications. Nine preferred drugs now require clinical prior authorization, and one new drug class (Intra-articular Hyaluronates) was added to the PDL.

Immediately: Update prior authorization workflows for 9 new preferred drugs requiring clinical PA: Dysport, Eligard, Entresto, Granix, Hyalgan, Hymovis, Trelstar, Vantas, and Zoladex. Review complete PDL update at www.papdl.com and update billing system drug databases with new preferred/non-preferred classifications. Train staff on new Intra-articular Hyaluronates drug class requirements. Claims may be denied without proper prior authorization.
