Summary
Pennsylvania Medical Assistance (Medicaid) expanded presumptive eligibility determinations to include inpatient private psychiatric hospitals, in addition to acute care hospitals. This allows psychiatric hospitals to make temporary Medicaid eligibility determinations for patients while they apply for ongoing coverage.
Action Required
For psychiatric hospitals in Pennsylvania: Complete online training course for all staff who will make presumptive eligibility determinations. Submit Hospital PE Provider Addendum to Department's Provider Enrollment Unit by the 15th of the month prior to when you want to begin making determinations. Maintain list of trained employees and training certificates for Department monitoring.
