Summary

Pennsylvania is implementing Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) for personal care services provided by home health agencies to Medicaid beneficiaries under 21 years old, effective September 1, 2020. Providers must use either the state's Sandata EVV system or an approved alternate EVV system to electronically verify six required data elements for each service visit.

Action Required

Action needed
By September 1, 2020: Home health agencies providing personal care services to PA Medicaid beneficiaries under 21 must: 1) Complete mandatory EVV training through Sandata's system, 2) Choose between the state's free Sandata EVV system or implement an approved alternate EVV system, 3) Complete and submit the EVV System Account Verification document including all 9-digit MPI numbers used for personal care services, 4) Train all home health aides on EVV documentation requirements including service start/end times, and 5) Establish policies for EVV compliance and auditing. Failure to implement EVV may result in claim payment issues.
