Summary
CMS is launching the Medicare GLP-1 BRIDGE Program on July 1, 2026, providing Medicare beneficiaries access to weight loss GLP-1 medications (Wegovy, Foundayo, Zepbound) with a $50 copay per fill. This program operates outside Medicare Part D plans and is managed by Humana as the central processor for prior authorization and claims processing.
Action Required
Before July 1, 2026: Billing team must understand that GLP-1 weight loss medications under the BRIDGE Program will not be processed through Medicare Part D plans but through Humana as central processor. Providers must use the CMS Prior Authorization Form for patient eligibility and ensure patients meet BMI/comorbidity requirements. Note that GLP-1 medications for Part D-covered indications (cardiovascular risk, sleep apnea) will continue through regular Part D processing.
