Summary
Pennsylvania Medical Assistance (Medicaid) will now allow licensed pharmacists to enroll as mid-level practitioners to provide services like immunizations and medication therapy management in physician offices and clinics. Pharmacists will be enrolled under Provider Type 10, Specialty Code 247 starting March 1, 2024.
Action Required
By March 1, 2024: Practices employing pharmacists in Pennsylvania should verify their pharmacist enrollment status in the PA Medical Assistance Program. Existing pharmacists enrolled as Provider Type 24/Spec 247 will be automatically updated to Provider Type 10/Spec 247. New pharmacist enrollments must be completed through the PROMISe portal at least 60 days prior to providing services to Medicaid beneficiaries.
