Summary
Pennsylvania Medical Assistance (Medicaid) is removing the requirement for prescribers to document searches of the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program when requesting prior authorization for skeletal muscle relaxants. All other prior authorization requirements for these medications remain unchanged.
Action Required
By January 6, 2025: If your practice prescribes skeletal muscle relaxants to Pennsylvania Medicaid patients, update prior authorization request procedures to remove documentation of Prescription Drug Monitoring Program searches. All other requirements for prior authorization of non-preferred drugs, quantity limits, and controlled substances with concurrent buprenorphine remain in effect.
