Summary
Michigan Medicaid will now cover environmental investigations for lead poisoning in beneficiaries under 21 with blood lead levels ≥5 mcg/dL. Local health departments can bill for on-site investigations of homes/primary residences built before 1978 or with other lead exposure sources, with a maximum of two sites per case.
Action Required
Local health departments only: Update billing procedures to use TS modifier for second site investigations and select single Medicaid ID when multiple children in same household have lead poisoning. Refer to CHAMPS system for specific procedure codes and rates.
