Summary
Michigan Medicaid now requires Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) services to be provided only by programs with specific certifications (MDHHS, AADE, or ADA). Providers cannot bill for DSME services until proper certification is approved and on file with Provider Enrollment.
Action Required
Before October 1, 2016: Providers offering DSME services must obtain and file certification from MDHHS, AADE, or ADA with Provider Enrollment. Billing team must verify certification is approved before submitting claims for G0108 and G0109. Claims will be denied if certification is not on file.
