Summary
Effective January 1, 2017, Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP) services for individuals enrolled in Medicaid Health Plans will be administered and reimbursed by the health plans instead of fee-for-service Medicaid. MIHP providers must establish contracts with Medicaid Health Plans and obtain prior authorization for services exceeding established limits.
Action Required
By January 1, 2017: MIHP providers must establish provider contracts with Medicaid Health Plans in their service area and complete Care Coordination Agreements for both in-network and out-of-network services. Check patient eligibility and MHP enrollment at every visit. For out-of-network services, contact the enrollee's MHP before providing services. Obtain prior authorization from MHP for services exceeding Medicaid policy limits, children older than 12 months for initial assessment, or services beyond 18 months of age.
