Summary
Effective January 1, 2018, MIHP consultants will now be responsible for reviewing and authorizing program exceptions for Maternal Infant Health Program services, including services for children over 12 months, continuation beyond 18 months, and beneficiaries with no identified risks. Providers must submit supporting documentation to their assigned MIHP consultant for all program exception requests.

Immediately: MIHP providers must establish workflow to submit documentation to assigned MIHP consultants for all program exception requests including initiation of services for children over 12 months, continuation beyond 18 months, and services for beneficiaries with no risks. Billing team must ensure all approved written authorizations are kept in beneficiary files and note granted authorizations in program communication tools for MHP enrollees.
