Summary
Michigan Medicaid laboratory reimbursement rates will be updated to 90% of the 2018 Medicare Clinical Laboratory Fee Schedule, with annual reviews thereafter. This affects all Medicaid programs including Healthy Michigan Plan, MIChild, and Children's Special Health Care Services, but excludes outpatient hospital and ESRD facility lab services which remain under OPPS reimbursement.
Action Required
By July 1, 2018: Billing team must update fee schedules for Michigan Medicaid laboratory services to reflect new rates at 90% of Medicare CLFS. Access updated rates through CHAMPS External Links menu or www.michigan.gov/medicaidproviders >> Billing & Reimbursement >> Provider Specific Information >> Laboratory. Note that outpatient hospital and ESRD lab services continue under OPPS methodology and are not affected.
