Summary
Effective September 1, 2018, hospice and nursing facility providers must upload specific documentation to the Document Management Portal (DMP) when billing with Value Codes 25-29, 33, and 34 for patient-pay amount offsets. Claims with these codes will suspend for review and be rejected if documentation is missing.
Action Required
By September 1, 2018: Hospice and nursing facility billing staff must upload documentation to the Document Management Portal (DMP) when using Value Codes 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 33, or 34. Documentation must include: specific reason for patient-pay offset, detailed description of the item/service, and receipt showing beneficiary paid for non-covered service. Staff must note in claim that documents were uploaded to DMP. Access DMP tutorial at www.michigan.gov/medicaidproviders. Claims without documentation will be rejected.
