Summary
Beginning January 1, 2019, Michigan Medicaid Health Plans and Dental Health Plans are prohibited from paying providers who are not enrolled in the CHAMPS system. All typical providers, prescribers, and those appearing on claims must be enrolled and active in CHAMPS on the date of service, or claims will be denied.
Action Required
Before January 1, 2019: All providers serving Michigan Medicaid Health Plan and Dental Health Plan patients must enroll in the CHAMPS system at www.michigan.gov/medicaidproviders. Billing team must verify all attending physicians, ordering/referring providers, and prescribers are enrolled and active in CHAMPS on date of service. Update claim submission processes to ensure all provider NPIs on claims are CHAMPS-enrolled. Claims for non-enrolled providers will be denied by managed care entities.
