Summary
Starting October 1, 2019, all providers who prescribe drugs to Michigan Medicaid beneficiaries must be actively enrolled in CHAMPS (Community Health Automated Medicaid Processing System). Prescription drug claims written by non-enrolled prescribers will be denied, including those written by medical residents.
Action Required
By October 1, 2019: All prescribing providers (including medical residents) must enroll in CHAMPS at www.michigan.gov/MedicaidProviders >> Provider Enrollment. Contact MDHHS Provider Support at 800-292-2550 for enrollment assistance. Pharmacies should be aware that prescription claims from non-enrolled prescribers will be denied, with emergency overrides available using NCPDP codes 13 or 55 in field 420-DK when applicable.
